Privacy Policy for UV Glow
UV Glow (“we”, “our”, “us”) provides UV forecast information for your current location or places you search for. This Privacy Policy explains what information we process, how we use it, and your choices.
Information We Process
- Location data (optional): If you allow location access, the app reads your device location while using the app to show local UV forecasts.
- Search queries: If you use search, we process the text you enter (for example, city names) to return matching locations.
- Selected locations stored on your device: The app stores recent locations and widget location/snapshot data locally on your device using iOS storage.
- Technical request data: Our AWS services and upstream providers may process standard network metadata (such as IP address and user-agent) to deliver API responses and operate infrastructure.
How We Use Information
- To fetch UV and weather forecast data for selected coordinates.
- To return location search results.
- To cache forecast responses in our AWS backend for performance and reliability.
- To support widgets with your latest selected location and UV snapshot.
Data Sources and Service Providers
UV Glow uses these providers to deliver core app functionality:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS): API hosting and cache storage.
- MET Norway / yr.no: Weather and UV forecast source.
- OpenStreetMap Nominatim: Place search/geocoding results.
Data Sharing and Selling
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not use third-party advertising SDKs in the app.
- We share only the minimum data needed with the providers above to return app results (for example coordinates for forecast, search text for place search).
Data Retention
- Forecast cache entries in our AWS backend are temporary and are automatically deleted on a rolling basis (up to approximately 72 hours).
- Recent locations and widget data remain on your device until you remove the app data or uninstall the app.
Your Choices
- You can deny or revoke location permission at any time in iOS Settings.
- You can use the app with manually searched locations without sharing your live device location.
- You can uninstall the app to remove locally stored app data.
Children’s Privacy
UV Glow is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect data in transit and in our cloud services. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
International Processing
Data may be processed by our infrastructure and service providers in countries where they operate.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
